Department of Justice: You and the Bush administration have been charged with illegally spying on American citizens. We have evidence of this and will be performing an investigation.

NSA & Bush: In the interests of national security, we arent allowing you to continue with your case against our illegal activity. Charges dropped.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation also has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the citizens against AT&T for letting the NSA do it, now the US Government says theyre just going to exercise the "military and state secrets privilege" and have the case against AT&T dropped, again, citing national security.
