Default Car runnin funny HELP PLZ!

Okay instead of selling my car
im just gonna repair it so i can drive it for about another 2-3 yrs and then buy a car i really want

    ANYWAYS

    Problem is (besides clutch heh)

When i start to accelerate i pretty much hafta rev my car to 3000 rpm and slowly release my clutch (i mean REALLY slowly). If i rev my car to 3000 and release my clutch it shoots down to 200-500 rpm and piss poor accleration, and it feels like my car doesnt grab until about 3000 rpm again (in any gear)

Basically my foot can be on the ground and ill slowly accelrate.

I also idle around 400 rpm and i think thats way to low, i figure i should be about 800-1000 but thats just me.

    So any ideas guys?

    THANKS!

    -403 Gemini

P.S This all started to happen after i got my distributor replaced, and i told the guys at the mechanics shop and since im 19 they pretty much gave me the big "fuck off" with "Oh we'll replace the distributor for free, cept you still hafta pay labor" which woulda been another 140 and im a starving student and even 100 is quite a bit to me... so i cant throw away money on stuff that would "potentially" fix my car.

So yea if any of you can get back to me thatd be great. If ya wanna take it for a test spin (if any of you are mechanics) to determine the problem, feel free to e mail me at:

    [email protected] (checked most)
    [email protected]

    or private msg me.

    Thanks guys!

Ignition timing, sounds like it's too advanced. When you replaced your distributor you forgot to set the timing back on your car. Your going to need to find someone with a timing gun to get it bang on, but in the mean time you can patch it up yourself by turning the distributor until your car idles in the 800-1000rpm range. (I'm assuming that you put it on yourself and know how to loosen it off agian.)

Before you adjust the timing without a gun make sure that,
    a) your car is at normal operating temp, and
    b) your radio, lights, HVAC, engine fan, and any other devices that draw electrical power are off.

You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

First your going to have to pick up the yellow pages. Then look up 'auto mechanics' or 'auto repar'. Then call a few and ask. Shouldn't be to much though, they'll probably charge you for 1/2 hr labour so 20-50 bucks is my guess.

No it isn't over 400 for that ride for a new clutch.

Get the clutch kit, and i'll install it for $150. A clutch kit is about $120 depending on your ride. CDN tire has them on sale right now.

I dont know what the engine of an LS looks like but if you can see the distributor and its anything like my H23 engine 140bux is too much .. I JUST changed my distributor in less than half hour (this post caught my attention because I think my timing is a bit off also) I idle at 500rpm ..

Lets get some more info on tuning, my step dad has a timing gun and garage I can use any time ..
