    Default Clearcutting in Bragg Creek

Found this on another site, thought i'd post this here so something can actually get done. There's a lot of people on this site, everyone please take a few minutes out of your life and write a e-mail. Thanks!

50,000 trees a year is what Spray Lakes Sawmills wants to clear cut from the Bragg Creek area. Just talked to a guy that lives in Bragg Creek and was at the meeting last night. MoosePackers, Telephone trail, Sulphur Springs, Powderface, Barrier Lake area ALL could be affected. Cutting around Barrier Lake could be started within 6 months.

If there is no resistance to this clearcutting then Spray Lakes will have a 10 year opening to clearcut these areas.

The following info page has detailed information and contact lists:

    http://www.braggcreek.ca/forest/

Deadline for letters and emails is June 23, Spray Lakes has to look at all letters and emails sent to them.

Please take a few minutes to send something expressing your concern.

THIS IS PRIME RIDING, RUNNING, HIKING, CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, TERRITORY FOR ALL OF US.

    Thanks

It's even worse to think that after 100 years it still won't be like it was before. Thanks for writing e-mails everyone. Deadlines tomorrow, if you haven't wrote one please write one now.

Once you've hugged a logger, you'll never go back to trees.

hmm, i wonder if the people that complain about increased construction costs are the same ones that complain about people cutting down forests?

Its a clear cut case(haha) of Nimby...All those people out there protesting from their cedar cladded and log construction homes , preaching from their douglas fir pulpits about the evils of the logging industry... Kinda makes me gag actually..
It seems anytime anyone wants to develop anything in Canada, there is a group with a big mouth wanting to stop everything... At some point people, we have to use our resources, its a global economy and I have no problems using them if its done resposibly.. The logging industry is very good at reclaiming land. most people couldnt tell the difference from reclaimed to natural anyway...Its a renewable resource , go for it...
