Question Need Help with fixing my car fan?

Ok, I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier and the fan for the a/c and heat has 4 setting from low to high.

The problem I have is that it will only turn on with the two highest setting, so the two lowest setting are not working. What could the problem be? I have checked the fuses and nothing seem to be blown. Does the fan run on two separate fuses for high and low settings?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks

The pot-switch in the fan selector is probably gone. Could be from dust and dirt, or just worn out. You should be able to get a new unit from the junkers though. It's all electric. If you pull off the dash cover, you can see two bolts that hold the switch panel in place. Just go to the junkers and get another one.

More than likely the blower motor resistor. It is what really controls the fan speed. A very common problem, moreso than the actual switces.

Can I check the resistor? If so how and where would I check it?

maybe the resistors are hooped. you can test the resistance with a multimeter. if its infinite resistance its probably gone.
