Default New photographer (Critique my pics)

    Hey guys,

I'm new in the photography game, ie never owned a digi cam ever, much less taken a picture I just bought a Olympus SP500 Uz which was in my budget. I know absolutely nothing about photography, so i'm soaking up all the info here and in some books my dad has for me. Here are some pictures that i've taken this weekend. I havent had time to read the manual or really tinker with the thing. Anything you guys think tell me, good/bad/ugly! What are good brands for cases? Tripods?

    Cheers!

Two things to learn: depth of field and composition

Read up on those and put them into practice

Yeah, right now they just look like snapshots. something anyone could have taken in one minute outside.

Look closer at everything, and find better photo ops. composition is key, and dof can work wonders, as mentioned above

Obscura hit it on the nose that you're missing out on composition, you need a subject of interest to capture our interst.

Once you figure that out then you can start learning about how to position your subject in different appealing positions. Once you get there, read about the "Rule of the Thirds". Once you have that figured out you need to learn about line leaders (secondary subjects that point to your main subject so that people viewing your work are drawn towards it).

More than anything, keep taking pictures, lot's of pictures. You'll start to learn what your style is and what please's your eyes. You can also look at other people's work and try to copy it by doing it yourself.

    Good luck!
