You mean... per year, not per month right? Sounds a bit ridiculous that you'd be paying $14,400 for your 95 sunfireOriginally posted by whodiman
Meloche monnex for me too. I was with AMA paying almost 1200/mth for my piece of crap 95 4 door sunfire. I switched over monnex last week and am now down to 748 including collision. I do get a discount for being 30. You also get another 5% for switching your house insurance over.
Furthermore, they don't charge a finance charge/interest for paying monthly.
Also, you don't have to just be APPEG or whatever. They list many universities that you can be alumni of.
I think almost all companies cover the APEGGA dues... Mine paid for my registration fee (~$100) and whatever other annual recurring fees there are.Originally posted by Crymson

My company doesn't pay for it and states it obviously on our intranet. I think a lot of companies don't advertise that they pay APPEGA fees but if you actually ask, they will pay for it.
Wow lots of Engineers on Beyond.ca

Yes I mean per 1200/year. My car is barely worth 1200 period. Heck, I don't even know why I bother with collision coverage.Originally posted by Super_Geo

The APPEGA discount is also on the same tier as other professional organizations and designations (LLB, CA, etc), so it's not just 'geers who can save $$$ on insurance. University graduates are in the second tier, the discounts are very similar. They also have multi-vehicle discounts (5%) as well as combined insurance (home and auto) discounts another 5%.
heloc that shit
And if they don't pay for it, at least the entire fee is tax-deductible.Originally posted by richardchan2002

Mine will pay them, but only when you become a professional member. EITs pay their own way. At least it's tax deductable.Originally posted by Super_Geo

Ha ha! No, i recognize the need for an engineering society, but i don't like them muscleing around G&G, or telling universities their not accredited so their grads can't work in alberta.Originally posted by barbarian
Get kicked out?
It's too UofC/UofA centric.
What other universities are in Alberta other than UofA and UofC?Originally posted by Crymson

Sounds like we have a Devry grad on our hands.
36 year old with 3-year-driving experience.
For third party, I got $61/month without APEGGA membership.
It's not APEGGA that determines whether a univesity is accredited, it's the Canadian Accreditation board that determines that. APEGGA is a governing body for engineers in Alberta.Originally posted by Crymson

Yes, engineers are egocentric, but how do they muscle G&G?Originally posted by Crymson

I'm a Student member of Apegga (Not EIT), can I still get a discount with TD/MM?
Seems like I can't get an online quote either.

Yes you can get the APEGGA discount. You'll just have to call MM and give them your membership numberOriginally posted by elmo909

If you take a non-accredited program, and the course material was adequate, you can get registered with APEGGA by writing subject-matter exams. Not sure how many, it may be a lot.
