    Default Freshy burnt cd's skipping?

what could be the problem when I freshly burn a cd some of the songs randomly skip in a weird way when playing in the cd player but wont when I play them on the comp from the drive? could it be a problem with the discs i'm using, problem with the burner? or problem with a the software I'm using to burn?

It's most likely your CD player. Try putting someone else's burned CD in your normal cd player, then a normal music CD from a store.

Alot of times dust collects and causes problems with the cd player.

Cd player plays other cd's just fine. When it skips it's more like a glitch in the song and then just plays normal, as if its part of the song.

The discs are probably shit. I hate it when that happens especially when you buy a 50pack thinking it's going to be decent and they end up sucking.

Those spindle discs are always crap. Every other one I burn has problems.

Ive bought some of the cheapest CD-Rs out there and never had a problem.

Maybe its time to switch software... I use itunes for music, and Nero for DVD data.

I'll also bet it's the media.

I burned some Sony discs once and, when I played them back, the further into the disc I got the more the songs skipped. I tried burning at a slower speed and that helped a bit but they were still junk.

Tried some TDK discs at the higher write speed and they were fine.

I'm not saying all Sony discs are crap or that TDK discs are better, just that the brand can make a major difference.

Buy a half decent burner, and burn at a slightly slower speed than the discs allow (whats 7 min versus 5) I buy the garbage 50 packs at Memory Express, and they last a couple years. Some CD players dont like some burnt discs tho. IE. My Alpine 7835 plays everything I've thrown at it, friends truck with factory indash, only seems to read sony discs.

Try burning on slower speeds (like 8x speed.)

If that doesn't work use better disks...and if that doesn't work it's your CD player.

The player in my parents car did this. I figured out you have to tease it by putting in a legal CD, play it for 10 seconds, then put the burnt disc in.

My burnt Cd's usually start doing this after about a year.

Why this worked, I don't know. But it did.

It happens. From my experience, especially with older CD players, the colour of the disc data surface can affect the playability, with light and reflective surfaces being more likely to play, and deeper darker colours more prone to problems. As mentioned quite a few times already, take a couple extra minutes and burn slow!
