Honda Canada reports best annual sales in 36-year history after December record

TORONTO (CP) - Led by Civic sales, Honda Canada Inc. is reporting record December sales of 15,951 units by its Honda and Acura divisions - a 22 per cent year-over-year increase.
Acura division sales were 1,786 units, down eight over last year, and the Honda automobile division reported record December sales of 14,165 units, up 27 per cent.
For the full year, Honda Canada reported Wednesday combined sales of 165,985 units, an increase of seven per cent over 2005 and representing the best calendar year in its 36-year history in Canada.
The automobile division set an annual record with 145,629 units, up nine per cent.
Setting an annual sales record was the Honda Civic with total calendar-year sales of 70,028 units, up two per cent, making it Canada's top-selling car for a ninth consecutive year.
Honda Civic sales for December were up 60 per cent.
Also setting annual records were Honda Ridgeline, with total sales of 4,988, up 30 per cent over last year, and Honda Pilot, up three per cent.
Honda truck sales were up 10 per cent in December, led by a 98 per cent increase in Element sales, along with a 54 per cent rise for Ridgeline and a 21 per cent increase for Odyssey.
