Default How to stop rabbits from eating shrubs and trees

These pests are going to town on my yard. They've completely devoured a couple small shrubs and the lower branches on a tree. I've since wrapped all the trees with chicken wire which seems to be working but I have a dozen or so shrubs that I'm not sure what to do with.

Anyone with a gun want to come have some fun?

just file off a bit of the wax coating on these, even if the shot does not kill it, it will die of lead poisoning.

Any chance you can just block off their access points? I have a fully fenced in backyard and we had a huge rabbit problem [they demolished all our flowers ]. They still chill in the front yard sometimes, but they don't seem to do much other than hide and munch on some grass.

We spent a day going through the backyard and looking for small access points and blocking them off with wood, soils, and those wood chips you sometimes see in gardens. After that, we'd just kind of keep an eye out for when rabbits were in the back yard, and if one was spotted, we'd let the dog out to chase them away and block off the path they used for escape.

This was about 5 years ago and after a day of blocking and a few chases, we haven't had any problems.

My sister in law runs a golf course on Vancouver Island, since 2007 she has used animal urine to keep rabbits, racoons, geese, etc away from the flower and plant areas. In her area it is impossible to destroy the critters as they would lose their Audubon certificate. Just be very careful about transporting the stuff, she spilt a very small container in her SUV, it took a week at the local car detailers to get the smell out. Anything with coyote in it will work, we all see them running around Calgary. Another upside I guess, no dog will come near your yard. Free shipping below.

Good ideas, ill be sure not to shoot them haha.

Blocked the back yard off and buried the shrubs in the front yard with snow. The sprays are a little difficult when there's 3' of snow hah.
