Ordering online from the UK

Hey guys, I just ordered some CD's from the amazon.co.uk, but my friend says that you have to pay really high custom and duty fees for stuff from europe. Have any of you guys ever ordered from europe and do you know how much it would costs for customs etc.?

I ordered some soccer stuff from the UK.. I had to pay a stupid amount of money for customs.. I don't remember how much, but enough so that I no longer order from the UK again because after everything, I end up paying more than buying it here..

I've ordered a couple car parts and a calender from there and I don't even remember paying duty or anything. Everything was shipped to my house when i was home and just had to sign

I've ordered computer parts from the UK, and never had to pay duty or customs or anything.
