Default any openings for internship?(electrical engineering)

    Hi,

think my chances are slim in getting any response here but nontheless, just want to ask fellow forumers here if there are any openings for internship in your company?

i am from Singapore and am sourcing a company to do my industrial orientation as part of my school's third year program. Singapore is a pretty far place from Calgary. But the reason why i hope to do my internship in Calgary is because i have intentions of relocating and join my aunt who is here, staying near Dalhousie.

Some companies i have approached have told me that they only take in interns from UOC/SAIT. Was wondering if there are any companies opened to take in students from other countries.

Hope to do this as apart from gaining valuable experience, it will also give me a scope of what the working environment is like in Calgary-a preview before i come here to look for job in 2008 when i graduate.

i am now in Nanyang Technological University (www.ntu.edu.sg) and am in ELECTRICAL ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING specialising in infoCOMMUNICATIONS

hope i get some help here =)

    HAHAHAHAH

best bet is to check out monster or workopolis and keep trying.
Doesnt your university have a career center, cause if it does im sure they would help you out alot more.

    Default Oh canada...

haha was typing and the fonts suddenly turn into asian chinese font type which i din know how to rectify. Sorry know that its kinda hard to read

ok. i am sourcing the company on my own as the list of companies the school has doesnt offer any placement in calgary, in fact it only offers a few in other parts of canada.
i specifically hope to intern in calgary because i could actually stay with my aunt and i am keen in working long term there

it is legal for me to work in canada just as long i apply for a work permit through the canadian embassy in Singapore.

i tried job agencies and it seems chances are slim as they dont usually do coordination for internships but for fulltime jobs. Am trying to see if i can link up with he company directly.

well not asking for much but just hoping for a chance for a learning experience in calgary.

    anyone?

if you want to work oversea, you would be better off getting help from your university other then randomly ask people on forums and such. I doubt any company here would go through all that trouble to hire an oversea intern

Instead of going through the university you could go through your university's local chapter of AIESEC. PM me for more details. We help bring over international interns, arrange for their work visas and match them to jobs here in Calgary.
