    Exclamation 90 DSM help me plz !!!!!

    i just got myself a 90 TSI talon.... its got a tranny and turbo out of a 97 eclips, greedy blow off, front mount innercooler, stage 2 racing clutch, and a turbo smart boost controller, turbo timer, etc.
    [ running stock exaust ]


    when i run the boost at stock boost 9-10 pounds... the car is fine but when i run the boost at like 14 first and second gear about 4000 rpm chugs like its not getting enough fuel or something.... but then 3.4.5 gears dont do that......

    WAT's goin on.... plz help me !!!!


    and how much boost an i run without replaceing the head gasket

    sounds like the fuel cut to me. You need to bypass the factory fuel cut.

    From what I've experienced, fuel cut isn't a "chug", it's more like a "what the hell was that!"

    I bet his spark is blowing out. What are your plugs gapped to?

    What are you running for fuel system, injectors, MAF, MAS or ??

    Also the stock exhaust will not help at all running those boost pressures. And what size is the turbo?

    Good guess that it might not be getting near enough fuel but way more info is required re: engine/fuel setup

    it has the stock fuel pump and injectors, i dunno nethin about the mas or maf...... i just know the box is out and it has a open K&n filter on it. but how do i bypass the fuel?

    and the turbo is stock one off a 97 eclips i belive its like a t25 or 16G w/e u prefer to call it... but it jerks hard and almost gives u whip lash when it does it

    and the plugs r the original ones from 1990.. the car only has 150,oookms on it

    im pretty sure that you DONT have a tranny from a 2g as the mounting brackets are different. Anyways, its more then likely fuel cut or even a MAJOR boost leak. check www.dsmtuners.com they might be able to help you. With these cars its hard to specifically target whats wrong without seeing them

    Like Forcefed stated, you better check out some DSM sites and do alot of reading.

    Original plugs? WTF, and prbly timing belt as well. Poor kid

    like i said i just got the car n havent done nething to it besides buy the controller, im use to the V8's. not these tinker cars

    the guy had a 97 eclips and a 90 talon... he upgraded his eclips tranny for the bigger turbo, and took the tranny and put it in the talon. n the turbo was also taken from the same eclips

    ok, im not saying this didnt happen bit the mounts are different for the tranny on a 2g... also ALL of the turbos connections are different between the gen's and the t25 is significantly smaller than a 14b (assuming manual car)...

    So lets also put into perspective that these arent "tinker cars" and the basics of how they run is no different than a v8. this one probably is in desperate need of a tuneup (plugs, wires, filters and fluids), and likely has a boost leak. your timing belt is also due to be changed.

    In a DSM, general shittyness... really anything from a mild miss, to hunting idle, to knock, to fuel cut. Im leaving out alot, but if the car is relatively stock and doesnt run well and is properly maintained a boost leak is high on the list of possibilities...

    In your nissan (assuming) i havent a clue, if you have a MAF sensor and a ECU that works anything like a DSM then your symptoms will be similar. If you have a MAP then mild leaks wont do anything but major leaks will kill power a bit as the turbo works too hard.

    Hmmm sorry for the thread jack but im having similar problems, and i do indeed have a MAF sensor. I pinned it a couple nights ago, it boosted well then POOF i heard something (no smell or smoke) and before i made it 1000ft the car was shuddering and losing all power, now it will start but only if i use the throttle to maintain idle. Also it dies right away if i shift into 2nd, think this could be a boost leak?

    check all the boost lines prob blew a line off.... i did that ri ght after i installed my front mount i forgot to do up a clamp and it blew off n idol'd rough and when u put ur foot on the gass it would just shake the car n barley move ne faster.... so check ur lines

    Sound's like you blew a fitting....if you can't see anything get a boost leak test done. Probably the most common issue with a boosted car running shitty....bogging down, bucking, rough idle and such it's because of a boost leak IF the car is running a MAF.
    Google on how to make a boost leak tester as it's fairly simple or take it to someone who has one.

    If it's that hard, then it may be fuel cut. Does it happen at the same boost pressure every time it happens?

    is it warmed up when it does this? my 91 used to do that but only when the engine was colder...sounds like fuel cut, i know exactly what your talking about, only mine didn't give you whiplash, you could deffinitly feel it tho! let us know what is it when you fix it...this seems to be pretty common

    its a fuel cut...it cuts out at 14psi n when i turn it back to 13.5 psi its fine thru all the gears but i find it funny how 3 4 5 gears it didnt do it...

    n yes its a lil better when i run it at nite over 14 pounds but in the day or after i warm it up its sooooo bad....

    so ne one know how to bypass the fuel cut?
