    Default wrecking a car

so how does the whole auto wrecking thing work?

    do they buy cars?

just come and tow them away?

i've got to get rid of a car and i'm having trouble deciding on the best way to do it.

Donate it to a charity for the tax receipt

i did donate another car to the lesser known cancer car foundation earlier this year.

it's just that this car (92 325i), well, i don't know, i'd like to get more than 50 bucks for it.

i've also though about car heaven too.

i can't really "part it" since i don't have the space to keep it around while the vultures come and take bits off it every now and then.

i mean, mechanically it's fairly sound, but it's got the cancer.

if it runs fine and you can get an inspection on it.. sell it cheap to some student.. shouldn't be hard and you'd get more for it than a wrecker would more than likely give you

body rust, especially along the bottom of the car.

it's got 190,000km on it too.

engine is fine/has new oil pump.

cooling system needs repair. it blows heat, but i think the viscous fan coupler is shot. a/c is not functioning.

suspension needs work, ie. lower control arms.ball joints/possible rear shock mounts.

brakes need new pads on rear only.

interior looks pretty good. no tears. cloth seats.

but before this gets locked for being a "sell my car" thread, i am really just trying to find out what wreckers pay for cars, specifically ones that still start and drive.

You can take it to Pick'n'Pull (aka Car Heaven). They have two ways of doing it, option

    A) you make a deal for how much of a donation tax receipt you get (I got $500 receipt for my 88 CRX that had a completely fucked subframe, but the engine was good) or

B)you can put it on their for sale lot, for a price, and see how much you can get for it.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

you can sell it directly to pick n pull and they do what they want with it. i had a 1994 beater intrepid i bought for 300 bucks last winter, and i sold it to them for 275, not a bad deal for a car i had for 6 months. just call them and ask them what they would give you for it.
