    Default Integra radio antenna questions!

Okay, so my car's audio is bone stock and I was just wondering if my stock antenna's suppose to go up whenever the radio is on?

Reason why I ask is because it never goes up, I can't seem to find a button to make it go up and seems like my car has terrible reception for the radio, it gets really fuzzy from time to time whenever I'm driving normally, HELP!!

    Any way to fix it?

Ive only seen a handful of them actually work. You can either pull it up manually and it will stay there, you can buy a new OEM antenna or you can retrofit a S2000 one in it's place.

I got pretty decent reception with mine stuck all the way down.

I think the OEM mast is around $90.

The antenna is suppose to go up unless there is a break in the circuit. Maybe the former owner of the car did it on purpose. Integras are notorious for having noisy antennas. When the thing starts rusting you'll hear the motoring grinding to get the antenna down.

You can try looking behind your audio deck and see if one of the wires have been cut. Another place could be at the antenna motor, but it's a bit harder to get to.

Either that or the motor is just shot, you can always pull the antenna up manually...

I have the same problem with mine, but when the radio comes on the antenna comes up about 6 inches. Which is cool I guess, I wouldn't want it to go the whole way up. It just sucks when you get crappy reception (especially on 92.9 wtf)

I had the same problem on my old car. The reason is that dirt tends to stick on the antenna. When it retracts, some dirt will be brought down into the bottom of the antenna. Dirt builds up and eventually it either doesn't work as good or it will stop working all together.

If you want to use similar type of antenna, you should keep it clean as much as you can. It's a bit annoying to get out of the car, wipe the antenna before you shut the car and the stereo off.

Lol, there's no sound at all, it's like the things not even connected to the car itself.

^ like said above, the dirt gets stuck in the telescopic antenna and usually it goes up halfway and makes the noise of the stuck motor, get an aftermarket rubber one, like the ones on Vdubs.

try squirting some silicone lube or what not and retracting it up and down.

antenna motors are notorious for failing after a couple years, my year of camry has one, and so does the respective lexus model, and i havent seen a single one that works 100% (the antenna is effing long if it actually gets to its proper extended height), its probably 100% a dead motor, or just a dirty antenna that has too much friction to get up. anyone know where to get replacement camry antenna's? haha
