Default Audio Installation - Fair Price?

I own a 2002 Audi A4 and I already have my sub, amp and hardwire iPOD hookup.

I just called Audio Concepts to get a quote and they said $1300-1500 for installation

    Is that a fair price?

The guy told me they charge a premium if I supply my own parts and since a friend of mine is building my fiberglass boxes for me I just need the wiring done since I'm not comfortable doing it myself.

I think I will try calling the Visions on 32nd and get a quote.

Any places/prices that are considerably cheaper than that? $1000+ seems outrageous to me.

I have no problem paying more money (esp. for someone who know's German's) but I'm not willing to pay that price for something as "simple" as wiring my equipment!

They want $1300 to put in an amp and ipod cable? That should run closer to $130!

by hookup do you mean hooked-up? It could be a large chunk of work depending on how the wires need ot be run but thats a hell of a lot of cash. Any other custom work or just straight wiring??

That is what I was thinking! He said that since I was providing all my own equipment (sub, amp, IPOD hardware and boxes)

I mean connected! Just wired up.

I have done all the custom work myself (I am providing both the sub box and amp rack along with all the equipment)

All I need is the wiring and possibly a HI-LOW converter.

Sounds pretty straight forward to me....

UPDATE: I just called Visions on 32nd and the guy told me he would need to see my car and the setup but it should way under $500. It was $200 for labour rates plus any wiring so maybe and extra $150-200. That sounds much more reasonable.

He said he was familiar with my car but I'm not sure. I know hiding the wires in my Audi is different that it was in my previous cars as you have to remove the seats, etc.

To put it in perspective: a custom fibreglass sub box runs about $1000. Audi wiring isn't too bad, so I'd say for a full wiring hookup about $5-600 would be fair range.
