This is the general rule for any Canadian Tire in-house brand. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I don’t think I’ve had any brand last more than 5 years before hitting 50% or higher failure rates except Phillips. Those Cree ones that everyone was horny over died so fast. 3 or 4 years. Terrible.

Phillips makes a good bulb yea.
Not just failure rate, but they are the only ones I have found have rock solid dimmer reliability.

This was installed in our dining room prior to us buying the house 20 years ago. For the longest time I thought it was just an old 70's dimmer switch and liked the looks of it, until I found it online while looking for a motor speed controller.
It's worked for every type of bulb I've ever installed in the dining room, and has been going for over two decades.

So I decided to finally change these out yesterday. This was the worst one, in my garage, right beside the heater. It still worked, but color temp was REALLY yellow, like 500 or 1000K yellow haha. They've been on for 10+ years, these lights never turn off. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Comparing with a new one:
I think kids call this "cooked"? Good description.

Plastic over the led is probably the issue and I bet led is same color from the start.
Those are weird. They look like GU-10 but with a proper threaded base instead of a Down's Syndrome base.
Yea that looks like either residue from the heater was slowly yellowing it or the plastic itself was yellowing from temp.
LED cell inside probably good as new

It identified as an asian bulb.

For all you cool tone led'ers.
I had good luck with Noma in my last house minus people swapping colour ranges in the store and not getting what I paid for. But in this house I went with all Philips and no complaints so far except on one dimmer but I've tried multiple bulbs in it so I think its the dimmer itself.

anybody have advice on a pole w/ attachments to change light bulbs that I can't reach or set up ladder for? They are par20 bulbs in recessed ceiling cans that I am trying to change. Found some examples of changing poles at HD, Rona, Amazon but mixed reviews on all of them. Any advice is appreciated.
Side note, incandescent that was installed when house was built in 2017 just burnt out and that's with every day long usage!

I brought in a firefighter that rigged 3 ladders into 1 to do mine. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
None of the poles I bought worked.

I changed my parents with long extension pole (the kind you would use for sanding drywall, it's metal, yellow in color) and suction cup tool. Their ceiling height was like 20 feet. Both rod and changing tool were standard stuff available from home depot. Will try and find exact model for you. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Here you go. It's solid. We have used it for like two decades for a variety of projects (drywall, painting, window cleaning etc)

Suction cup tool available on Amazon.
I think there was a thread on here a while back highlighting some sketchy ladder setups to change bulbs in odd places. Some of the pics were down right scary lol.
Anyone who is still into Philips Hue, Bestbuy has a decent sale on right now. $100 for a 3-pack of A19 colour bulbs, plus an additional 25% off if you buy more than one Hue product. So if you're just looking for bulbs, it's 6 for $150
