    what generation are you refering to?

    either way,

    i = fuel injected (all)
    s = sport
    c = coupe
    a = auto
    C = cabrio

    ex: 330 ciC is convertible, 530iA - sedan automatic

    If I had to guess I would say the L stands for extended or "long."

    I'd be right too.

    Yeah, "e" stood for economy. The "e" came from "ETA" which in Greek ment economy.
