    Default Thailand/Vietnam Group Packages

Ok, so I know there are a million threads about thailand, vietnam etc for travel in general.

But what about group package type deals? Can anyone recommend any?

I've got to be quite honest about my vacation intentions... I'm looking for an absolute party/shit show type vacation, so if you know of any good ones to go with let me know!

    Thanks!

They always have posters around MtRoyal. A friend of mine went a few years ago, and thought it was the best time of his life. I think its $3600ish for 40 days, including flights, accomedation and transportation.
I talked to them alot and put money down on it (to be there right now) until I totalled my sister's SUV on the way back from kickinghorse LOL

Do you have any extra info about the Phillipines trip or is it best to just contact them?

Ill post the news letter I got that they sent out to alumni! Call you will not regret it and will remember it for the rest of your life!

Hello to all Free & Easy alumuni…(from the past 7 years and counting!)

I am writing to you from the island of Siargao. If you look at a map, and
starting with Thailand, look directly east…across the Gulf of Thailand,
past Cambodia and Vietnam, past the South China Sea, and you will get to
the Philippines. Now, keep looking further east till you get to the
easternmost islands bordering the Pacific Ocean. This island is just
north of ‘Mindanao’, and is just one of the many, many pieces of paradise
that exist all over the 7107 islands of the Philippines.

I have been in the Philippines for about 6 weeks now traveling,
researching, and enjoying a great lifestyle planning the next Free & Easy
adventure. If you are like me (and most people), you’ve probably not ever
thought too much about the Philippines. It is almost weird that with all
the time I’ve spent in Thailand I have not heard more travelers talk about
it. Somehow being on the outskirts of S.E. Asia, the Philippines has been
overlooked by most travelers…and actually, it was only about 6 months ago
that we even started thinking anything about it. But, we have now
‘sailed’ through this ‘new frontier’, and have put together what I expect
to be an awesome 40-day experience.

Over the 40-day trip, we’ll be island hopping through 10 different islands
with the opportunity to scuba dive and explore several more islands. In
many ways, comparing the Philippines to Thailand, it is ‘same same, but
different’. The people are genuinely friendly with huge smiles - often
laughing - and giving you that feeling that you are safe wherever you go.
The tropical climate here feels like I could be in Thailand. The beaches
are stunning, palm trees everywhere, and the water is an incredible aqua
blue. The scuba diving in the Philippines has to be one of the biggest
highlights of this country, and several places we’ll visit are considered
some of the best dive sites in S.E. Asia.

But even though Thailand and the Philippines feel the same in many ways,
the experience of traveling this country is completely different. There
is no ‘backpacker route’, so the country is wide open to explore. Each
spot has been chosen for something cool and unique, and at several of the
destinations we’ve chosen, you’ll see and experience much more of the
village lifestyle that goes along with the simple living in the
Philippines. English is also widely spoken throughout the Philippines, so
you’ll find that you can communicate quite easily with the locals.

Where I am staying right now is 2 minutes away from ‘Cloud 9’ surf break,
and we’ll be here for a week on the trip! The season we would be here has
great waves for both beginners and experienced surfers. We’ll also stay
at a volcanic island with black sand, and possibilities to hike the
volcano, visit hot and cold springs, or scuba dive lava rock. We have 4
days at an exclusive resort on a tiny secluded peninsula, and surrounded
by incredible snorkeling and dive sites. Other highlights include
waterfalls, an epic boat trip to ‘paradise’ lagoons and caves, visiting a
relaxed University town, experiencing the insane shopping of the
‘Megamalls’ in Manila, hanging out on one of the ‘world’s best beaches’,
riding boats and ferries of all shapes and sizes, frisbee and volleyball
at the beach…. and all the while experiencing this with 20 other people in
the typical relaxed Free & Easy approach to traveling.

The costs of living in the Philippines are relatively comparable to
Thailand. Accommodations are more expensive, but also nicer. Travel
costs are similar, except that some additional flights are necessary in
hopping around islands….and we’ll also be traveling more often than we do
on the Thailand trips. So, the tour package is more expensive than our
Thailand trips, but otherwise it is very cheap to live in the Philippines.
You will be EXTREMELY happy to hear that alcohol is ridiculously cheap!
Beer at a bar or restaurant is about $0.80/bottle. The inexpensive Gin
and Vodka cocktails range from about $1 - $2…Yes, cheap. From a market,
you can get wine for about $3/bottle, or a 1L bottle of Gin for about $5!!
I haven’t even mentioned the Filipino rum Tanduay….at about $1/bottle!

Most other costs tend to be less than in Thailand because the tourism
industry is still relatively new. At local restaurants, food is very
cheap, but at resorts it tends to be a bit more expensive. The menus are
not normally 12 pages long with every dish imaginable like in Thailand,
but the food is great, and fresh seafood is super cheap. You’ll eat
incredibly for under $4/meal. Internet is about $0.50/hour. Tricycle
taxi rides average about $0.50 - $1. Scuba diving would likely be the
biggest expense at about $25 - 30/dive, but just budgeting an extra $300
for this, and you’d likely never regret it.

So, the point of all this is to hopefully inspire some of you to come join
us on this new adventure in 2008. The inaugural trip will be from June
10th – July 20th, 2008. We may also offer another set of dates from July
20th – Aug. 30th, but we can’t confirm that yet. The cost of the trip is
    expected to be $3990.
