I am in the midst of thinking about a project for my shop to do over the winter to take to events and shows for next year. I want something that will showcase my fabrication work and would like some ideas thrown out there. I am thinking possibly FD rx7 with a single turbo 2jz...I dunno help me out. Thanks.

Ya not really interested in a honda swap unfortunately. I want a rwd platform. Something that people will be interested in and catch the eyes of most people.

Obviously I'm biased, but I would turbo an oldschool E-class, 5 series or E30 m3, I6 or V8 and rwd, you can make crazy power on them, and it is different.

That would be cool, However it would also be pricey to buy the car initially. I am probably looking to spend about 15-20K on the car plus engine (parts are on top of this plus all fab work is provided by me so keep that in mind).

but you said the car cost too much initially. but wouldnt a supra cost just as much if not more than the s2k. An FD with LS6 would be cool (i hate V8 Rx7s lol). A roller cost less that 6g. I dont recommand the rotary if you dont have extensive experience with them. Plus its not really a cool engine to showcase anyway since not many people has one.

Get a RX2 or 240Z, something along those lines and throw in a RB26 or SR

Well I want something with a straight body with fairly decent paint. I never said anything about a supra, just mentioned a 2jz (doesn't mean I'll buy a full supra). 240z would be nice but good luck finding one with a good history (body wise) and someone that'll let it go.

Alsod I honestly would rather use a 2jz than a rb26.
