    Default Zex install on Gmc jimmy

    Do you guys think it would be safe (engine can handle it etc)? is it easy to DIY or do i need someone to do it? Someone on here is selling their kit im thinking of taking it if its not going to cause problems.

    Zex is called the smart system or somethinglike that. It suppose to be super easy to install. All the components (solonoids etc) are already put together in the smart box. You tap the nozzel into the t.b. and it runs off of a wot switch.

    First of all, stay with a low HP shot if your engine internals are stock. 55 HP shot or less will be fine (ZEX sells all kinds nozzles, 35 HP is a good one considering your bottle will last a long time before having to be refilled). With that said, your engine needs to be in good condition to begin with. Obviously if you have half compression in one cylinder and you're burning oil, then nitrous is not for you.


    Otherwise, running nitrous from time to time will be perfectly fine for your engine. If you run it too often (read: every second red light), you will wear down your engine faster.


    As for installation, it's not that hard, but difficulty all depends on how mechanically inclined you are. A dry system is pretty easy to install, you can even by an air filter that has a hole in it where you screw the nitrous nozzle in, so you don't even need to drill anything.


    It's up to you really. The only downside to nitrous, IMO, is having to have the bottle refilled.

    Im not worried about having to refill the bottle. All ill be using is between a 35hp-55hp shot. Weapon R, if you fuk up i will light your teg on fire

    BTW..the engine only has 64 000 k on it, so it should work fine right?

    I think we should start a pool to see who long it takes you to blow up the Jimmy!.....my guess, 3 weeks

    if i keep driving the way i do now, itll be 3 days. But it will have to change...haha, no warranty either so i would be screwed.

    It could work perfectly fine on an engine that has 200 000km as well. Again, it all depends on what condition it's in. Just keep the HP shot low and you'll be fine. The problems start when people get greedy, and start using the 65 and 75 HP nozzles.

    what motor does the jimmy have man? the 4.3 vortec?


    if so theres a dude in town running a 90hp wet shot on his reliably... calgaryss

    that being said i blew up my 2.2 on a 50hp dry shot but that motor had issues!

    Yes its the 4.3 vortec. Doesnt that guy have internals done though?

    afaik he has no internal work, just boltons

    unless the SS` motor already had done up internals.

    I'd still stick with a 50shot if you're going to do this, especially if this is your only car.

    Well im going to go ahead with it as long as it wont ruin my engine, dont want to pay for a new 4.3 liter

    Just make sure your fuel injectors are not clogged!! haha, my #2 injector couldn't supply enough fuel and is the reason why the piston from that cylinder is missing chunks of metal nearly down to the ring grooves!
