Default Making Hi-Res photos into low res in bulk?

I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and , in particular, jpeg images.

I have a couple of DVD's worth of wedding photos. They were taken with a whizzy digital SLR camera and each file seems to be around 5 megs or so.

The files are too big to email them out to family/friends and it takes forever to load up each picture, re-size, "save as", re-name etc.

Is there a way to take all the images on the disc and make them smaller?

Do any of the professional photographers on here have some type of software that does it? If so, how much do you charge to shrink down the pictures?

    Thanks
    Pacman

    Thanks for the reply.

Do these programs require you to resize each picture individually or can they resize every image in a certain folder?

I want to avoid having to load up each picture, resizing and then saving as there are probably 900 pictures that I have to do.

    Thanks

not sure with those programs, but with photoshop you can batch script which will automatically resize images on a specific folder.

if you need help I can do it for you easily.
store image on a cd, usb or SD stick and I can do it on my laptop. wont take more than an hour.

otherwise I'm sure more experienced people here will be able to help you

Image Resizer Power Toy FTW. Straight from Microsoft:

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

All you have to do is select all your pictures (when you're in My Computer/Windows Explorer), right click them, chose resize, done!

FastStone Photo Resizer can do batch resizing as well as watermarking. Yes, it's free.

Or if you have photoshop, you can automate it.

    File > Automate > Batch

    Give picasa a try
    http://picasa.google.ca/intl/en/#utm...&utm_medium=et
Free, really simple to use. Select your files, set your max dimension and export.

Picasa (http://picasa.google.com) is great for this type of thing.

Add your photos, select all (CTRL+A) and then click the export button at the bottom.

Set your dimensions (say...1600pixel width) and then OK.

    Hope that helps!
