I was wondering what brand of polarizers you guys/gals use? I've tried a kenko for my 77mm lens and I'm looking for a 52mm filter for my 35mm f/2.. Any ideas or suggestions? money isn't really an issue

whatever you do stay away from Targus...
absolute shit filters.
i'm gonna pick up some B+W filters me thinks.
I use Rodenstock/Heliopan filters, but Hoya is just fine if you're on a budget.
HMm okay I will check out b+w and rodenstock/heliopan
I use Hoya / B+W on all my Nikon lenses, anything else I have I use Optex cus I don't care as much
And I'm usually on some form of budget, spending 80-100 bucks on a filter is a little out of this world when you have like 12 lenses

I almost never use a circular polarizer, so I just went with a cheap Hoya (in the purple packaging). I've used it twice last season.
A polarizer is something that isn't used all the time so really, you only need one for all your lenses. I use step rings to use the same filter on my smaller lenses.
I'm a fan of the Nikon polarizers, they are reasonably priced from B&H compared to locally, even after shipping. I have a Kenko Pro-1 as well and I'm happy with it.
How much should I expect to pay for a decent 52mm polarizing filter for my Nikon D40x? I am only really a beginner so I dont want to shell out $100+ for one. I've seen them for anywhere form $10- $120. Is there much difference?
Split the differance and you will be fine. B+W are my filter of choice. Rodenstock seem to be more for film shooters that cant adjust WB in post.
I don't understand this statement at all. Polarizing filters aren't for adjusting white balance.Originally posted by Viper55555

Sorry I was meaning the whole line of filters that Rodenstock make. Lime Green and Neon Orange filters dont really make sence on a digital. That is unless your going for some wild effect.
Well I bought a rodenstock today, going to wait for a nice day to try it out. Also grabbed a 10-20 sigma... it seems pretty neat so far but I'll have to correct a lot of the distortion, though it is a neat effect for certain shots.
heh, i'm never cheaping out for a filter ever again.
My current polarizer shifts my colour balance, as well as drops my image quality a great deal.
It's almost like shooting through your car window.
Things like CA is amplified, and images get muddy and I take a huge hit in sharpness.
Targus filters should be burned.
So i should be glad i got a rodenstock.. i'm sort of new to this circ. polarizer thing. I've barely used the kenko for 77mm lenses.. I hope it works out okay. The guy said that if I went to a rodenstock for the 77mm it would vignet pretty bad on a wide angle lens.

The manual with my rodenstock specified that the colored filters are for black and white film photography and they bring out different greys etc.. not my ball game!
