The first thing that came to my mind was "well, at least this makes sense". Because really, look at them. They're humanoid slugs. It's one of those situations where they can't do better.

Why I mention this is that that German brother and sister weren't hideous. If it wasn't for the unholy abomination of their coupling, they could easily pass off as human beings that could potentially mate with other people.
