    Default Cat5e and phone jack

I currently have Cat5e running through a new house. I have used the Cat5e for the phone line as well. The problem is the cat5e wall outlet is different than a phone outlet. Where can I buy an adaptor that has a cat5e on one end and a phone outlet on the other end? Do they even exist? I tried FS and BB with no luck. Obviously, I'm not that electrically literate so any help would be greatly appreciated.

i don't think there is one... as far as i know, there's a lot more wires in a cat5e than there is in a cat3(phone cable)

Phone only takes 1 pair of wire. Just make sure it's terminate properly and you're good to go. RJ11 will fit in RJ45 jacks.

interfere, no, but it won't work for your phone unless the other end is setup for that. I have cat5 throughout my house as well. I can use any jack for either network or phone. but if I want to change it, I have to go to the termination box downstairs and plug it into the spot I want.

It not recommended to use the same cable for both. The line should either go into a switch for network or a bix panel for phone.

Although in theory phone only takes 1 pair, 100FDX takes 2 pairs and you can probably share the same wire with a breakout box. But it's not recommended.

And really, unless you are desperate, all you need is 1 phone jack in the house. Then go buy one of those multi-handset cordless phone and you can have a phone in every spot of the house sans phone jacks.
