You know when they have more money than brains when they hire this guy.Fisher acknowledges that he is not well known, has never built a skyscraper before and hasn't practiced architecture regularly in decades.

Saw that in the paper yesterday pretty crazy...quote from the paper..."Apartments would cost $4 Million to $38 Million"
And you can even bring your car into an elevator and take it to any floor that you live in!!!
On top of that, the building creates enough wind energy for itself, now that is amazing on its own!
I'd say in around 10 years when all their major projects are done, Dubai is going to be the place everyone would want to live in, no other city is going to look like this for the next 50 years unless they get more money to outdo them.
Ugh, some civis are going to have massive headaches over this one,

It won't get built.
I wouldn't want to live there.. theft and crime will probably be huge.
the divide between rich and poor is massive.
i mean.. who wants to be any of the THOUSANDS of underpaid workers that have to staff the mall and amusement parks?
tallest and craziest buildings + biggest and most obvious sprawling slums = dubai
Actually I believe their biggest export(or at least it was when i lived there a few years ago) was steel. tourism second, and oil third. The have some pretty smart people running the country who know that you can't rely on oil forever.Originally posted by eblend
