Anyone going?? The weather should be good for racing.

I AM...
I'm hoping to make it, I'm having some flywheel related techical problems as of thrusday night so..... we'll see. But I'm hoping to make a 13.2 - 13.1 sec. passes if I end up going.
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.
Nice.
You may see some Celicas out (maybe not racing) but we'll be there to watch at least.

Tonight IS the night to go. Assuming air pressure stays up there, it's going to be a very fast night.
Current conditions : 4C, 102.9kpa!, 77% relative humidity, high 22C.

For us meteorologically challenged folks, what exactly is the benefit of this?Originally posted by rage2

The higher the pressure, the more dense the air, the more the power.
The lower the temperature, the more dense the air, the more the power.
The lower the absolute humidity, the more dense the air, the more the power.

I guess so... =P
I just might have to race!!!
I'll be there spectating.

2004 GMC 2500HD 8.1L
Past Cars:
1970 Chevy Blazer, 2wd
2003 BMW X5 4.6IS Doushmobile, moneypit
2015 Ford Fiesta ST | Cobb Stage 1, catless downpipe
2008 Corvette Z06 - 11.39 at 123.8mph
2002 Corvette Z06 - 12.10 at 116.5mph
2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ
1993 5L Mustang - 12.59 at 108mph
1989 5L Mustang
1990 Jeep Cherokee
1991 Acura Integra RS 403Honda
Well I went....
I decided I'd CRANK the boost right to the top, setting my Blitz controller to 100!!
First pass, I forgot to turn the safety off, and the damn thing cuts out at 17.5 psi boost cuz that was the warning level I had set. Piss me off!! Wasted the first run! Bad...
So, removed the warning, cranked it up. Ran peaking at 19.3 psi boost. Ran a 13.3 @ 107.48 mph. 60ft was 2.162. My Car is so damn heavy it pisses me off...
I see guys with far less HP getting 1.7 60ft, AWD launch though. Man if I could launch like that, my 1/4 time would be sweet!
Well Rage, what can I do now to launch faster? Mickey Street drag tires? Seriously?
Fuck! Great conditions tonight, though I never raced, I was bootin around down and it sure felt good!
*cough*2.3 60ft *cough*

I saw your runs Z_Fan.
The worst was when the 03 Cobra SVT went.
He stalled at the light and couldn't get it started again. He had to get pushed away.
I saw boi-lien(sp?) but no other beyond ppl

Depends... are you getting a lot of wheelspin off the line? If so slicks would help, but it can break drivetrain parts rather quickly. If you're bogging off the line, you'll need to learn to burn out your clutch (hehe) so you can slip it nicely and get as much TQ to the ground. The key is to get the right amount of wheelspin (very little) to overcome the little power you have between 1000-2500rpm, and grip at that point to propel you forward.Originally posted by Z_Fan

It could be the track too... I mean, I kept running 13.3's like yourself at race city, 2.2 60ft times. Then one night, the track was super grippy off the line, nailed about 6 2.0's and ran 13.1's for those runs. I pulled a [email protected].
I think our cars are very close... well I guess we figured that out at track day anyways hehe. I'm heading out to SS next week with a new mod, so we'll chat there.

I guess I'll have to go to Secret Streets then...yah, I'd like to talk a bit about Power Meters!
Anyhow, I get noticeably wheel 'squeal' and sometimes slip all the way through 2nd gear!! I can not control it off the line. If I have the boost cranked that is...
I dropped my tire pressure a bit, and that maybe helped slightly... (took out 5psi) Bottom line, when I run 13 psi boost, I can get the same times. (13.4-13.6) Because my acceleration is quicker with less wheelspin. This is pissing me off. But I get 100-101 mph. Do it the other way, I get 13.3-13.6 times with 105-107 mph.
....
As for the SVT Mustang that was there. That car is DAMN fast. I believe he ran a 12.7 or something. Maybe it was faster than that. Someone told me that was stock? Holy crap!
Can't be stock. I've ran a stock Mustang SVT Cobra (390hp) down the front straight and got 2 carlengths on him.

That's a LOT of boost. What mods have you done? I hope you're not trying to push those boost levels (17-19psi) on stock turbos & injectors. That's asking for BIG trouble.Originally posted by Z_Fan

I'm not running it that high anymore. Just did it for a couple of runs. It's just overboosting and isn't generating any more power. In fact, less perhaps!Originally posted by Inzane

So I've dialed back down to about 15.5 psi now. I change it all the time, but have my safety set at 17.5 psi so it will be safe. I know it's just begging for trouble to run higher...
