1G dsm overheating?

A friend of mine was crusing around today when he noticed that his engine temp was way high so he pulled over and poped the hood and found that one of the hoses had a hole in it so he cut the hose short and reattached it so it wouldnt leak any more. then he drove for a bit more and his temp still would rise. so he pulled over again and looked and noticed that his hose from the radiator had become enlarged, almost pregnant looking, with built up pressure. He then carefully let out the pressure by opening the clamp that holds is on. and his temp went down to medium, which is where is usually goes, but started to creep back up. by the time he got home it was pregnant again and his temp was way up.

can anyone shed some light on the problem? is there a way to relieve pressure?

Thermo stuck shut

get a new hose just in case...at only a couple bucks for hose at auto value you have no excuse not to get some and replace the broken hose(s). Then go from there

its the thermostat, once u change that, it should be fine....
