Salvage Inspection???

I bought a car... and the guy forgot to mention it needed a salvage inspection.

It doesnt look damaged so it must have been repaired at some point but the guy wrote SOLD AS IS on the bill of sale, is there anything i can do or is it just one of those learn from your mistake situations??

If its a private sale unfortunately there isnt much you can do.. sorry to hear about your luck.

so basically i just have to get the inspection and pay for whatever it needs?

there is no law saying he legally cant sell the salvage car without telling me?

its sold as is, if its anything un-repairable your SOL.

someone just told me that maybe it was illegal and i could do something about it...
guess not.

its illegal for a dealership to do that, but if it is a private sale thats "as is" than your SOL unfortunately.

i'm pretty sure if there' important stuff like that that he fails to disclose you do have some recourse.

hmmm...
that sounds like it applies to dealerships to do it though to.
ive tried calling a few places to find out but nobody really seems to know. any ideas where someone would be able to tell me for sure?

ya i tried, they were really not 100% sure or anything... they never really gave me an answer.

the lady just kept saying they advise that the "buyer be aware"

no, the car was an old car, i just wanted to drive it while mine was being fixed, i mean i only paid 1100$ for it but still...

Be thankful it's only $1100, if it was $11000 youd have a huge loss to swallow.

you can get an inspection done for the car
but its a pain in the ass!
they look for absolutley everything, theyll always find a problem, even if the car is straight theyll still screw you over
good luck with it, but from personal experience its not worth doing

yeh, it'll cost you $100-$150 per inspection, whether or not it passes. (generally, some places may charge you full price first and then less for a reinspection)

ya i know it wont pass unless i put more money into it, i was just hoping maybe there was some law where the guy would have to just give me my money back or something..

just call him and threaten legal action, that's generally enough for them to refund you, people generally wont go through that much bullshit for $1100 car.

I'd say you'd have legal action on false representation, but i could be wrong.
