    Default Balding Tires

    Hello!

I recently checked my tires and saw that my front two tires are balding at the rim:

    Left:

    Right:

I Googled it but it seems to be giving info on bald tires, not balding tires. Anywhos, it's only present in the front.

What could the problems (if any) that may cause this?

And to my recollection, it hasn't been rotated once.

    Thanks!

Platinum Mitsubishi sets the PSI and told me that it seems alright. I'm actually kinda scared to go fast onto corners because it feels like I might tip it over.

Let me check the PSI. Be right back.

On another topic, how can I resolve that "tipping over" feeling? Do anti-sway bars help? It's a Mitsubishi Outlander AWD.

Nope, haven't done any lowering on it other than replacing the rear shock absorbers with new *stock* ones.

Uneven tread wear is a sign that the car was driven quite a while with improper wheel alignment. Often, the inner tire tread will wear down smooth while there is still plenty of outer tread left, or visa-versa. The result is that tires have to be replaced sooner rather than later. If tread wear is "cupped," the vehicle was driven with the tires out of balance as well

Interesting. So basically, I have to get it aligned? Or aligned and rotated?

And it is 29PSI, unless I read my tire gauge wrong.

Thanks! I'll have to call around then and find out prices. Do I still need to replace the tires though?

    Get it aligned.
Too late to worry about rotating those tires, you need to replace them now.
You should have your tires rotated every 10000km's to get the most life out of them. Many tire shops will offer free rotations if you buy the tires from them.

your call they don’t look new and you now have lost 25% of the treads on 2 tires... if you want kick them to the back and the back ones to the front after the alignment is done but to be safe with winter coming around i would get a new set of 4 all seasons just watch beyond sponsors they should be coming out with winter specials soon... I think tirebob has some already.

Aiya... well, now I know. Wish that Platinum told me beforehand. I'll check out places and quote for new tires and alignment.

    Thanks!

Winter special eh? Thanks for the tip! And yup, they're not new. They're the original tires that came with the car.

Are you for real? Man, it's not a sports car. Slow down when taking turns.. Christ.

I only did it once which scared the crap out of me. I don't do it now.

But... if it can be resolved...

Could be a negative camber issue. the old F250 4x4's with IFS used to eat tires the same way.

Also sometimes short wheelbase vehicles tend to eat front tires like this.

The 1/4 GMC Safaries etc used to eat fronts like this, not necissarily a problem with the alingment, maybe normal on that vehicle.

Taking corners too fast? That is some retarded shit there. You would have to be doing a roundy round track for days to wear out your tires like that from taking corners too fast. And it would wear out both sides of the tire not just the outside.

It is camber / alignment related.

Maybe you're turning too fast on corners and then applying hard breaks, no offense. But I think you should replace them
    like the people said
