    Default Gas mileage is horrible

I filled up from an empty tank for 41 dollars (55liters) and got 320 km, then yesterday when it was on empty i put in 15 bux, and it only took me 62 km. I sometimes take the revs a bit high but this seems way too much. Im planning to drive down to edmonton next week and i think i might be taking the jimmy instead if this is the kind of Highway mileage illl be seeing

EDIT: This is in a MAZDA RX7

How high do you take it? A 1.3 ltr should be wayyy better than that.

dude, when i had my rx7, the best i could get was 290kms.

filled to the top. There just bad on gas naturally, its not the size of the engine, its how rich it runs.

Rotaries are just plain awful for mileage. I'd make sure that that kind of mileage is not totally unreasonable though, if lousy mileage like that is common then you are ok, if not its time to start doing some diagnostics.

Ask ecstasyracer, he'll be able to help you for sure.

He knows pretty much everything you need to know about 13b's

Quite a few guys get 500+ km a tank in their rx7's that Ive talked to. Maybe you should change your o2 sensor and spark plugs. Is yours NA or turbo? Year?

That has nothing to do with ANYTHING mentioned in this thread. And no, a good condition rx7 wont flood. A poorly maintained rx7 with its fair share of issues will flood.

someone already mentioned spark plugs & 02 sensor

I'm assuming you are driving an N/A, if you are...you are getting poor mileage
if you are driving a TII then that's about average
I redline 2-3 times a DAY with "normal" shifts coming in ~5000rpm and I get 320km/tank

N/A should get pretty decent gas mileage (stock engine)

Damn, would changing the o2 sensor and spark plugs help?

In mine I can get to Edmonton on about 3/4 tank of gas.
You could also invest in a MSD ingnition. In the city I get ~390 to the tank. Dude if you wanted good gas mileage you shoulda kept the GTi. Haha

I can get to Calgary on ~1/2 a tank but I don't get as good of mileage as 390/tank in city driving
best I ever got was 380

Redline: spark plugs should be changed yearly anyways, they're not expensive. Bring your car to a good rx-7 mechanic and get him to test out the 02 sensor
changing the plugs & sensor should help a lot
and an MSD is a good idea as well

I've read of people being able to "pay off" the msd with the gas money they saved in a month or two
    they go for around $250+

look into an MSD6A; the MSD6AL is the same as the 6A but with a rev limiter
MSD SCI is just a fancy silver version of the 6A; SCIL is 6AL

oh yeah, might want to replace your fuel & air filter too, most people don't (especially the fuel one)

I have a 6AL and I did notice a difference in mileage after I put it on, before that I got about 320 to the tank as well.
My car runs rich like a bitch though cuze of the RB exhaust.

    Reflux:
How fast do you go on the Highway? I only go about 125, with sometimes 140 to pass people max.
What have you done to your car, I would love to meet up with you and chat RX7 stuff. Are you a member of the Edmonton RX7 Club?
