So I have a question about ramen..
I am going to Muku today for lunch and I have zero knowledge of ramen except for the storebought ichiban and nong shim I buy..
What should I order...
Or what are your favorites there.

Miso Chashu is your best bet. If you're hungry, there's a combo with noodles + Beef Don (Beef on Rice).
thanks man
dont you guys find the Cha su from muku bland? cha su just sounds like bbq pork in chinese to me.
Also tastes like it, cept really faint in taste.
Muku is pretty good, but still have not found a place with a nice flavourful soup.
Try Shikiji on Center + 16th ave. Pretty good.Originally posted by liquidboi69

Been to Shikiji and hibiki. Personally like Shikiji more.

Never tried Muku. Heard it's alright?!?!?!?

Since no one's mentioned the names... On the corner of Robson & Denmen in Downtown Vancouver, there's a couple of Ramen shops that get a lot of attention, Kintaro, Benkei and Motomachi.
It's lucky you guys in Calgary have some options. For Edmonton, I think the only two places I've seen Ramen was Tokyo Noodle shop (Not really that much selection of noodles...) on Whyte and also at Joey's...
I've been to Shikiji a few times and I have never gotten sick but I'll for sure have to try Muku and the others listed on here when I'm down next.

I just came back from Van last week. Stayed a block away from Kintaro's and if you want to get in, go early. It actually gets longer later at night. It's on the left hand side on Denman street just before Robson. There's also another Ramen shop just down the hill on the same street/side. After you're done eating, there's a bubble tea shop around the corner of Robson, across from the Safeway. Cash only.
Wasn't Kintaro in Richmond few years ago? I remember eating there and the noodle was amazing. All the staff were Japanese.
I think they closed down. The Denman location was the first one.Originally posted by lilmira

+1 for Shibuya Izakaya by bubblemania. I don't know if it's real ramen or what makes ramen "real". All I know is that I tried the curry ramen once and I was hooked!
But to be fair, I only tried ramen at one other place, Wa's. Ate the tonkatsu one and found it... sour? At any rate, did not enjoy.
The 2nd ramen shop you're talking is Motomachi Shokudo. It's opened by the same owners, and just as addicting.Originally posted by CRXguy

It's actually good. Miso Ramen and you even get to grind your own sesame. Adds to the positive experience for sure.Originally posted by liquidboi69

Wa's has good sushi, but I definitely don't recommend their ramen.Originally posted by Sasuke_Kensai

I think my favourites for ramen are Muku and Hibiki. Good stuff at those places.
thats the place that asked you how rich you want your soup right? if it is, its a great bang for your buck!Originally posted by blinkme_210

off topic my fav place to go to in vancouver is Gu... simply delicious... and for bbt pearl castle in richmond
Kintaro asks how rich you want your soup and how lean/fat you want your meat. It is on Denman in between Robson and West Georgia Street. I loved it when I tried it during the summer. So good and such a great price and the wait wasn't too long (20 min) at around 2pm.Originally posted by ApexDrift

As for Ramen in Calgary I have only tried Muku. I wasn't too impressed, especially since the price was pretty high for Ramen.

Me and the wife love it but only have ramen at maybe three other places (in the states and in Banff)
I only ever get the tonkatsu kind...
