Been blasting Blind Guardian in my ears all week I'll post up some vids of the songs tonight, but the ones I'm loving are "Battlefield," "Under the Ice," "Curse My Name," and "The Soulforged."
I liked that album (A Night at the Opera), it and Imaginations are my favourites that I keep going back to.Originally posted by Vagabond142

For me I have been spinning at least once a week or more for months:
Amorphis - Skyforger
GWAR - Hello and Scumdogs
Be'lakor - Of Breath and Bone
Rotting Christ - AEALO
Ghost Brigade - Until Fear No Longer Divides Us
Just something about how they do the choruses in almost all their songs. It's like getting punched in the dick by a robot caveman wielding a sword that is on fire, it is so awesomeOriginally posted by Penis McNickels

Just like ABBA, Blind Guardian is very heavy on the vocal track layering... lots of it...Originally posted by Vagabond142

The opening lines of "Battlefield" always give me chills.
Hansi is a very talented singer.
Knowing me, knowing you! ah-haa!
Just like Penis said, let your ears feast on some epic vocal layering:
Blind Guardian - Battlefield
Blind Guardian - Under the Ice
Blind Guardian - Curse my name (they are known as masters of metal ballads, and this is proof)
And a bit of a guilty pleasure.... Blind Guardian - I'm Alive (old school mid-90's heavy metal
)
My favourite ballad by the bards, from Imaginations from the Other SideOriginally posted by Vagabond142

And while I am posting videos
I love Amorphis and was pleased to see that they are fronted by Captain Jack Sparrow
Arch Enemy before they brought the tits on board and started sucking ass. Saw them in '99 at Foufounes Electronique in Montreal. Awesome show.
And while we are talking about Monsieur Amott back in his prime, might as well bring on Carcass, who are apparently making a new album.
Time to break out your air guitars, one of the best metal songs in recent years
Amazing

I'm not sure if I like this or not, but I cannot get it out of my fucking head for the last few days. I know that I definitely like the guy's voice. I think it's kind of eerie that not long after this, he died in a car accident.
For you Ghost fans, they are coming to town end of April
North American Tour
New Six Feet Under. Album is supposed to be coming out in March I think.

Orange Goblin, opening for Clutch on April 5th. Im pumped!
I definitely want to see Clutch this year. Hopefully I can convince one of my no-interest-in-music shithead friends to go along with me.

New Nails. So heavy. Not crazy about the vocals but really dig the music.

Is anyone going to see Ghost on the 29th? All my friends are shitheads so I might just go by myself.

I ended up going with a buddy but it wasn't his scene and he pulled the pin halfway through. I loved it. It was so loud, and from what I've seen all their shows are loud, so I can't find any live videos with good sound. But this one isn't bad.Originally posted by SKR

We got there just as the opening band, Ides of Gemini, was finishing up. I bought a CD after the show. Once I give it a listen I'll post something up here.
I like this song the best off their new album:Originally posted by 01RedDX
From their new album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies
and one from Guitar Gangsters
Their new guitarist is awesome (Rob Caggiano from Anthrax) and you wouldn't think a thrash metal guitarist would fit in but he does. King Diamond is awesome in Room 24 and the song has a real eerie feeling. Lonesome Rider is also really good. I like their country-ish songs. I don't think this song is really "metal", but if you like Volbeat, or want to get into them, you're going to get a taste of many different genres.
RIP Jeff.
