rainbow colours on cars

I don't have a pic, but I've seen a lot of cars with this strip about about 1.5 feet long on the trunk. It is the visible spectrum of light, and it looks nasty. I saw it on z3 few years ago. I see one every now and then, but forget about them.

Whats the deal with these?

Yeah, that would be the Kameleon paint job. I've also heard it referred to as Candy paint. I saw it on a Mini Van a couple weeks ago at the Cheese Cake Cafe

Anyways, its just a sticker that looks like that, with colors on each sections. I've seen a lot of them over time, but maybe its just a decorative thing? Its so ugly, so I thought it might be a club or something.
