Default Body Found Under Train Platform (Dec. 9)

No details as of yet but on the train today the driver said they found a body under one of the downtown platforms and police shut down 7th Ave.

I got on at Fish Creek at 7:05 and by 7:45 I'd gotten to Heritage so I said fuck it and went back to my car. MacLeod is backed up to 162nd so I'm taking a snow day :P

Anyway, if anybody knows what happened post here.

This was right after the Telus downtown station around 7:00am. Couple of trucks, ambu, and police. Sorry, didn't get close enough to see what exactly happened. They had the lines shut down on both ends. I thought it was a train vs. car incident.

Heard on news/radio that a pedestrian "collided" with a C-Train.

Just drove my sister to school, C-Train stations are a gong show - have to take shuttles downtown/walk.

So if you have exams, and have to take the train, LEAVE SOME EXTRA TIME!

Yea a coworker of mine was on the train, apparently a pedestrian was hit, jumped, slipped or otherwise fell off the platform.

Yeah, I walked from 3rd Street SE to 8th Street SW to catch the Dalhousie train. Thank god I didn't have an 8:00am exam.

    Hope those involved are okay.

yay for being on the train for 1hr and 40mins this morning. I got on at Brentwood, after waiting 2 trains because the first two were already packed. That was at 7am. I got to work on 5th st and 6 ave sw at 8:40am. Still haven't really heard many details of what happened. Heard a lady in a car got hit with no injuries and heard someone 'slipped' infront of a train on center.

i heard on the CBC that someone was "leaning" on the train, and the train took off and they fell inbetween the 2 cars, but didn't get hurt. the trains are running again.

oh, and I heard this at about 8:30 this morning, so things should be fine now.

macleod was a pariking lot this morning though.

I just got past that station as they closed off the street. Couldn't see anything other then the train just sitting there.

First off, you don't lean against C-trains... Now, what was the driver doing? I understand it was probably very crowded, but aren't they supposed to do a quick check of the platform for the safety of transit users before taking off? Must be hard to walk with that many horse shoes up your ass.

I'm the guy in the story. I have arthritis in my knees and some people were pushing me to get onto the train. I had to put my hand against the train to steady myself, when it started moving. I'm very thankful to be alive today.

Please think before you comment, and remember that news reports don't always capture the whole picture.
comment on the CBC article. I don't feel sorry for this guy since he disrupted my commute, but that's kind of unfortunate for him.

Stupid people pushing to get on the train. Impossible to get on or off without being molested during rush hour.

    Glad the guy is ok.

Somehow I doubt the guy who was injured would be logging onto CBC.ca to post a comment when he's probably in the hospital. They say the injuries weren't serious, but if someones hit by a train, I think its probably safe to assume that EMS would take them in

The guy's name is "Fragmaster". Someone sign up ask him if he was taking cover from a frag.

I don't buy the comment. Partly because common sense would suggest that people wouldn't push you to get on the train when the doors are closed. When was the last time you saw a train take off with its doors open?

"Service was temporarily suspended while paramedics treated the man."

He was treated on the spot and didn't go to the hospital. He was probably on his way to work and knowing this would be plastered all over the Internet, he logged in to check the comments and posted one himself. Seems possible to me . Plus there are always people running for the train during rush hour and will try to push the button to get the doors to open even if they were already closed.
