my 92 honda civic has quite an audible low hum or groaning sound when i drive on the highway...not so noticeable at lower speeds.
when driving straight the noise maintains and fluctuates directly with my speed however when i make a right hand turn (at least a decent bend in the road dunno 15+ degrees roughly) the noise completely disappears until the wheels straighten out.
the noise is present at the same volume while making left turns as straight so i'm guessing this is an issue with the front wheels/suspension as it seems to only be the direction of travel and speed that are tied to the hum.
*judging from what i've observed so far I'm guessing it has to be a rotational component based off of the direct correlation to speed (not rpm) - likely a wheel bearing, possibly brake rotor, or wheel..axle?
rotors are fairly new, pads as well. I checked doesnt seem like anything is stuck in there or rubbing irregularly or loose
wheels are recently balanced 15" honda alloys with newer winters on them so i figure it's not rubbing or an imbalance of any sort. inner fenders arent rubbing either
so i think it's likely wheel bearing. was just hoping someone could confirm my deductions or point out if i'm missing something obvious before i start ripping the hub apart; or maybe if you'd experienced or fixed a similar issue with your own car. the reason i'm not sure is when the car was on a hoist not too long ago i wiggled all the wheels and manually spun them to try and check if there was any play or signs of worn wheel bearings but non really seemed present. i cant recall exactly how long the sound has been present but i'm thinking over a couple months at least
