Did this terrible article really need its own thread?

Two things immediately pop to mind:

The Muslim religion makes unusually large claims for itself. All religions do this, of course, in that they claim to know and to be able to interpret the wishes of a supreme being. But Islam affirms itself as the last and final revelation of God's word, the consummation of all the mere glimpses of the truth vouchsafed to all the foregoing faiths, available by way of the unimprovable, immaculate text of "the recitation," or Quran.

If there sometimes seems to be something implicitly absolutist or even totalitarian in such a claim, it may result not from a fundamentalist reading of the holy book but from the religion itself.

fucking LOL, is this guy kidding? Yeah, sure, no other religion states that it's the final word of god.

and secondly, because I've seen this on other forums, before anybody goes on a huge rant about how this would limit our freedoms, just remember, Canada already has anti-hate speech laws on the books.

Just thought I'd save someone a few paragraphs of outrage.

As long as they don't try to keep me from practicing my own beliefs (at home or in public), I don't care. Let people do what they want as long as they're not invading the space of someone else.

However, if you do want to invade my personal space with your beliefs... I will beat you until my arm is numb. Same goes if I ever invade your space with my beliefs, I am deserving of the beating I will receive.

If all of the people of Islam did somehow get protection from anyone questioning their beliefs or having an opinion that differs, you'd better fucking believe there will be war.

For now, I'm not worried. Most Islamic countries are not organized enough to be taken seriously.

what we need is a democratic socialist government to take over the entire world, set up united local governments, eradicate religion, share wealth and access to education, and assimilate all cultures into one. until this happens, the world is going to keep suffering from the same problems of poverty and war that we've always faced.

Besides the Democratic aspect, Hitler allready tried that and it didn't work so well.

Actually, I don't need to respect a religion at all. In fact, I don't have to have respect for anything I don't want to. There are enough catholic/christian jokes that go around, you don't see me crying religious defamation

While you choose to look at this as somebody doing the right thing, it is QUITE obvious their intentions.

Hitler was trying to assimilate the world to be all German. If he had won then the world would be German, all christian, and pretty close to what you are suggesting. That was hitlers goal to make everybody the same or at least have the same values. GERMAN VALUES.
