    Default Progress on the silvia.

Hey guys, well im going to start a build thread for my car. I did some work over the summer as most of you know.

    Mods done in the summer:
-3" turbo back exhaust (HKS elbow, Blitz DP, Apexi Catback)
    -OBX Turbo Manifold
    -Garrett GT3071R .50 A/R T2 flange turbo
    -HKS SSQV
    -Ebay FMIC
    -DeatschWerks 550CC injectors
    -Z32 Maf
    -AEM wideband O2 sensor
    -Modexpress 6000k HIDs

I think thats it, if i remember correctly.
As most of you know, i was just getting my car to go fast and didnt do anything quality wise. So im going to fix that this summer.

    Plans in the summer:
    wheel wise:
-5 Lug conversion (ichiba 5 lug hubs, S14 5 lug rotors, 300zx calipers, rotors, pads)
    -SS brake lines
-Repaint rims (metallic green lip, w/ metallic white face, and metallic green inside[where the brake sits])
    -50mm spacers.

    Engine wise:
-Reseal engine w/ a OEM seal kit
-Piston rings (since i blew one of the 15 year old rings out)
-Metal headgasket, ARP head studs, and connecting rod studs.
    -Clutch and Flywheel (RPS)
-Injectors + FPR (750CC or bigger)
    -Power FC and Tune

    Plans for summer:
-Pull engine, for resealing and piston rings. (paint block and head)
-Clean engine bay- wire tuck, vacuum line tuck, brake line tuck (maybe), remove useless stuff, Mount everything properly(catch can, Hids, FMIC)
-Paint engine bay (metallic white like rims), Paint valve cover metallic lime green(like rims) spark plug cover (metallic white)
-Rewrap interior, Relocate cd player to centre dash and put gauges there(maybe?) redo gauge lights and interior lights(change color) Convert brake lights and other lights to LEDs.
-Fix front bumper and sideskirt, fix body damage(door, dents, etc) maybe throw a kit on it
-Repaint car, Pearl white? metallic white, a white of some sorts.

    Work being done now:
As most of you saw the dig thread, my car got moved to my school to do some work on it. Most of the work being done is mostly tune up stuff, fixing problems.
    Problems:
-window wasnt working all the time.
-Tach doesnt work all the time.
    -marker lights werent working.
-Do all the tests (line drop tests, alternator test, starter test, battery test, exhaust test, ETC)
-Fix A/C (stops blowing cold after a while)

    Pictures:

    My car on the hoist

Door panel removed, to figure out window problem.

After testing, we figured out this was the problem. The power window amplifier

    Fixed my marker lights.

As well w/ the motorvac did that today (cleans the injectors and fuel system).
Did the exhaust gas reading test, showed me my car was running rich (surprise surprise)
Also tested the O2 sensor today, Found out it isnt getting a signal from the ecu. Gotta figure that out tmr.
New battery is coming tomorrow, (from the miata)
and borrowing my friends window power window amplifier from her 240sx.

Well we did some more work today
Got my new battery and testing for voltage drops in the system.

Got the new battery from mazda, its a miata battery. 330CCA.
It was actually cheaper to order from mazda than any other parts store, go figure haha.

    Old battery, ugly install, YUK!

New battery, looks alot cleaner i think.

some of the diagnostic equipment we use at school.

Was doing voltage drops to see if there was high resistances in the system. We found one at least, One of the wires on the kill switch came off and was causing high resistance. Picture is of removing it.

    Old battery.

After doing my battery, i figured i could clean my trunk out even more. Im thinking im going to rewrap it.
Dunno what im going to rewrap it w/. but im going to make it look good.

isn't it highly dangerous/toxic to have a battery in the trunk without a box and proper vents leading outside the car?

dunno, there are a couple of holes in the trunk, that do allow air in.
I will be doing a box, to clean up the trunk.

Did some more work today on my car.

Cleaned up my battery system. Removed my kill switch, and cleaned it up to this.
The bolt is just showing right now, so we can continue wih line drops and such.

Testing line drops. Volt drop on the wire: 0.4V, Volt drop on the starter: 0.6V
Definately beats the original readings of 1.0V and 1.4V.

Testing the A/C system, and my group member mitch acting stupid haha.
A/C system was low in charge so we are retrofitting it to R-134A to refill and such.
Also my A/C system would stop blowing cold, so we figured eaither the STV
wasnt working properly, or the A/C system didnt have enough charge.

Removed the glove box, to see if getting at the STV was easy.

uhhhhhhhh nope, definately not easy. Just going to just retrofit the system and change
the reciever drier. If it was the STV, and caused the sysem to freeze up, than
the air flow would stop/slow down. So since the air flow didnt, we are going
    to retrofit it and see.

    Nice box! haha

Tach is also busted, when it feels like it, it will bounce around and sometimes not read.

Removed the p/s belt and A/c belt.
