The Calgary Police Service and Southern Alberta Integrated
Gang Enforcement Team (SAIGET) have completed a
two-week investigation into organized crime in Calgary.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was executed at
an address in the 7000 block of Elbow Drive S.W., on Friday,
March 6, 2009.
A further warrant was executed on the same day by SAIGET,
with the assistance of RCMP, at an address in Crossfield.
A vehicle associated to both addresses was also subject to a
search.
As a result of the warrants, a stash of weapons, drugs and
money have been seized. Six people have now been charged with
a total of 46 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and
criminal code offences.
The investigation involved numerous sections of CPS including
the Gang Unit, K-9 and the tactical team.
The total items seized as a result of the investigation are
as follows:
• Four long-barrel firearms
• Five shotguns
• A .22 calibre revolver
• Large quantity of ammunition
•
Four litres of GHB (with a street value of approximately $10,000)
• 116.9 grams of methamphetamine (with a street value
of approximately $11,690)
• 33.5 grams of cocaine (with a street value of
approximately $3,350)
• 18.2 grams of marijuana (with a street value of
$184)
• 55.6 grams of ecstasy (with a street value of
$2,500)
• Drug paraphernalia including scales, baggies and a
bong
John MARRINER, 34, of Calgary, has been charged with 16 drug
and weapons-related offences. MARRINER is a known gang
associate.
Dwayne MATHEWS, 48, of Calgary, has been charged with 14 drug
and weapons-related offences.
John THOMAS, 37, Donald MACAULAY, 39, Alain DENSHAM, 28, and
Melissa MILLS, 20, all of Calgary, have each been charged
with four drug-related offences.
