This seems pretty cool and I think it will help people see the world who otherwise might not have the chance!

If you should see one of these vans outside your home, quickly press your ass to your front window. Leave your mark on Google StreetView!

But the fact that google own so much privacy data just seems wrong.
i wonder what the vans look like?
I was wondering why this service wasn't available here. Now I know! What an incredible service though - to actually see what the street view looks like. Quite amazing when you think about it...
Xtrema: Do you really think it's THAT invasive of privacy? I mean, it's not like these guys are setting up a 360 degree camera in your living room - it's just taking 1 shot of what ANYONE could have seen if they were on the street at that particular point in time. No big deal to me, personally...

The fact that "ANYONE" has gone from hundreds to possible billions. And 1 in a billion will think of something to do with that information. I don't know what but somebody will.
May be it's a stalker planning something in the comfort of his home. May be it's a Nigerian prince want to plan some sort of next level scam base on target's home address and picture of it. Who knows? It's just information needlessly given/taken away.
I am so ready to make an ass of myself so I can look at it on street view.
I suggest you sell everything and go live in the woods.Originally posted by Xtrema

They are taking photographs in public places. If you don't want to be photographed, don't go out in public.

I think this is pretty cool actually.
Saw these in New York. They're just black vehicles and I don't think all of them are vans. I think they use ForTwo or something similar as well.
