Default Anyone have a chain rivet press/ tool?

I'm installing my new chain which comes with a rivet style master link. I can't find the tool anywhere forsale as there sold out. Trying to get the bike out today.

I have the master link on the bike just need to flare it!!!
Hopefully there's someone out there that can feel my pain of such a nice day and wanting to ride.

    Hey man,

Thats really funny as I had the exact same issue this weekend. My best advice is load the bike up into a truck, grab a case of Keiths and head over to TJ's Cycle. Thats what I did at lunch and they let me borrow thier tool to quickly install the link. Or else you can go to blackfoot as they told me they have plently in stock but your looking at about $130 for the set.

    Hopefully this helps.

Why not just use a masterlink instead, so much easier if you need screw around with the chain will riding.

A master link you need a tool.

You can just use vice grips and or a "C Clamp" with a small socket.

Cut the chain to the needed length, dont cut it to short or you just wasted a chain. Take the master link put the backing plate on, orings where needed if it is a "oring chain" which it should be unless you are racing motocross..... or actually care about weight.

Then take the front plate and press it on a bit with vice grips, do each side back and forth so you put it on even. Then take a small socket and press it the rest of the way on so that the pins go inside the socket. Kinda hard to explain but if you you look at the parts it makes sense. Sometimes vice grips are hard, so use a "c clamp" if you dont have the muscle. Install the retaining clip in the proper direction and your done.

Or load your bike up and come to Airdrie and I can help you.

Always carry a extra masterlink just in case and keep an eye on the retaining clip it can wear out over time.

I have a rivet master link.

There is no clip on a rivet master link.

I will attach picture. I have 2 vice grips holding it on put I need to flare the ends.
