SD410 Finally died, need a new P&S

I am not much of a camera guy, just like to have a decent P&S.

Is there anything you guys recommend? I like small and light, under $300 bucks

Look into the Olympus - Stylus Tough series. Water (33'),shock, and drop proof. Perfect for holidays! You dont have to leave your camera with your beach towel when you go swimming!

The photo quality is not as good as the 960IS, and it's not under $300. I like the Fujis for that price range.

Stick with Canon.

Canon 960IS as suggested is probably going to be your best bet at the 300 price point. If you can squeeze out an extra $50, I would HIGHLY suggest the F200 EXR. Completely worth the extra money spent IMO.

I kind of like the idea of 720p HD video in the canon

Fuji F200 EXR gets my vote too, but it's $50 over your budget. It's as good as it gets for a compact P&S pretty much.
