WHAT 5 MILLION DOLLARS! That's a fifth of a designer foot bridge!? Can't we just use a regular sidewalk? What about all those parking spots? Why don't they use the money to plow my backalley so I can get my SUV out? Why do I have to pay for this AND recycling - I don't use either....

There, got all the stupid "I pay taxes, so as I say" points out.

I'm all for stuff like this - Calgary keeps touting itself as a world class city, it's about time we start doing the little things that make it so. to Mar.

I don't know how the city thinks spending tons on decoration miraculously cures all social ills of a sector of the city....
I am sure the low lifes see the new trees and expensive street lamps, throw their shopping carts to the side and put all their rewards of panhandling towards bike helmets, fannypacks and rollerblades and suddenly develop a personal want for full time employment
