"The Double Irish" very similar to what Bono uses to avoid paying taxes in his home country.
Normally, they would have to pay 35% tax in the US.

Funny how the US gov't panders to corporations, whilst they screw them out of taxes unabashed.
I had a client with a similar tax structure. The issue is not the companies, but the tax loop holes. Management is simply doing their job: to maximize shareholder value.
As the tax partner I worked for called it; you will never forget your first double / triple dip.
Tax rules for musicians are very specific and specialized, yet completely different from the corporate tax structures."The Double Irish" very similar to what Bono uses to avoid paying taxes in his home country
I've done one artists returns that is foreign to Canada and the tax laws do not favor artists in the slightest.

When they runs fine, they rather buy vacation home and yachts.

The only way that this loophole hasn't been closed is that certain people are getting some pretty hefty bribes. There's no way Ireland could resist the combined pressures of the US and the EU without the right hands being greased.

Most of the yachts I see in NS, are always registered out of caymen islands, bermuda, nassau.. etc
I've worked for an employer who was suspected of simply shifting his profits into a Swiss bank and then submitting fradulent tax returns. The fines were significantly lower than the actual amount of money he was shuttling offshore.
I had heard last year that Canada was going to go after Swiss banks like UBS Witikon (the US had done it a few months prior) for this exact thing, but I don't think anything came out of it.
Obviously there's not going to be much political will to close loopholes; populist demand only works to get you elected to a seat, and from there corporate welfare is the order of the day regardless of party.
Lower Taxes & Close Loop Holes FTW!Originally posted by e36bmw///

Keep raising taxes and more companies will start doing this.
