Wierd Idle Problem HELP!!!!

OK the car is usually fine once i start it, but if i tap the gas
pedal it will start to idle rough. if i am driving the car runs great, but if
i let off the pedal and uses the gears to slow myself down it will sort of
buck, and sometimes backfire. But if i depress the clutch before letting
off the gas, and let it out and then use the gear( ex 5) to slow down a bit
it is fine. if i pull out of gear and coast sometime the car will acutally die/
get very close to dying on me. Anyone have any idea on what this can
be???

the car is an 87 merkur, with a 2.3 turbo engine.

Clean your injectors.
Plus I bet your spark plugs are hooped,

i think it's some hose leaking......not enough pressure. not sure tho

i srota had the same thing jus not as bad
was jus the spark plugs

If you haven't done it in a while, replace your plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Also check your Idle Air bypass valve and possibly your EGR valve. When the car gets older, the IAB passages in the throttle body can get pretty gummed up.

Also check for vacuum leaks as someone suggested earlier.

Do the fuel filter while you are at it....it was the cause of neutral stalling in my old car.

problem is fixed, pulled my IC and tested it again, i got another leak in it, they keep coming back...what will fix them for good???? other than a new IC
