I was thinking the same thing too. I want to see Lewis in a Brawn car now.....Originally posted by rage2
So Button joined McLaren to prove that he can challenge the best driver on the grid, Lewis Hamilton. After Qualifying and Race #1, Button's only a little better than Kovalainen. Ouch.

Even if Vettel's car didn't give up on him, he might not have held onto the lead. Alonso was really catching him before his problems.
To bad for Massa. I hope his car is good to go for Australia.
RBR has revealed that Vettels problem was an electrical issue with the engine, not an exhaust problem. The engine is still fine and they won't have to replace it though.

It's amazing that Massa is back in form after his accident last season! I'm very happy to see that.
I think qualifying 2nd is what did Massa in. He had to start on the dirty side of the track. Alonso in 3rd was on the clean side, so he got a better jump and was able to pull even on the outside of Turn 1, giving him the inside line for Turn 2. It helps when you can make a move like that on a teammate because he is likely to give you more room. Massa hung with Alonso the rest of the race.
I expect Ferrari to have a tough time managing these two as the season wears on! It helps both drivers that refuelling is banned, as there can no longer be any shenanigans about who comes in when and how much fuel they get. There were no miracle tire strategies in this race, but maybe someone will figure it out later.
I missed the race this morning but caught the broadcast again on Speed Channel.. Very good race. Feel bad for Vettel. But it was great to see Massa do well after that accident.
I would watch out for Schumacher though. It is going to be tough beat him when he gets into his groove..
Can't wait for the next race.
lol at button, fuck him and hopefully he'll gtfo of mclaren after this season. I wonder how long it'll take for him to bitch about "unequal" treatment like Alonso did.
Proved once again he cant do shit without the absolute best car under him.
Alonso + Ferrari is such a deadly combo.
lol... no one i know likes button (including myself)
and dangggg i really thought Vettel would take it. That was really unfortunate
Its strange not seeing Raikkonen in F1 this season.
The race lacked excitement for the most part. Im still undecided on the new rules and hopefully things will get better in the next few races; the long lap times really didnt make for great racing.
Long laps wouldn't be bad if there were more passing opportunities on those laps. The best passes I saw yesterday were by the back markers.
In my view the races in the middle east are just boring all nice modern circuits and nice to look at.
This was not a good track to host the season opener they should have stuck with Australia.
I hope the rest of the season is a bit more exciting and not a procession of cars.

^^ This.
As nice as those tracks are, they are not nice to watch. I love the street circuits.

Gosh Valencia is boring for a street circuit as well.
Honestly for some races I fall asleep for a couple laps.
Give me a track like Spa and Brazil any day
As expected - a race between the best all around car - Red Bull and the best all around driver - FA . Mclaren for the 3rd year running saying they are not quick enough.
get used to the year going like this ....first 1/2 of race, a funeral proccesion. They were 6+ seconds off of the qualifing times for fraks sake .. that is yellow flag paced "racing".
Wallowing around preserving their legality planks with full tanks on the green stripe tires that they roasted in qually .
A few passes before, in and out of the tire change pit stop. then a sprint to the finish with no real changes.
Early season reliability and technical variations before everybody copies the the best ideas by the time they get to the European part of the season will set the championship in stone.
might as well watch freaking Nascar - at least its on at a decent hour.

Just noticed this innovative pit stop feature of the Mercedes team. The jack at the front of the car can pivot away from the front. neat.
