So, I recently my Logitech G5 bit the dust.
I personally loved it, didnt have any Huge problems with it. Must have had the mouse for a good 4-5 yrs. Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a gaming mouse.

Its not only about money. Its about freedom, friends and family too.
I am by no stretch of the imagination a gamer but I do use a Razer Diamondback 3G for my everyday computing. It has been a great mouse.
The "gamer" in our family (12yr old daughter) loves the mouse.
You are welcome to take it for a few days to try it out if you would like.
Why move away from perfection? The G5 is still an incredible buy, when my old one died a couple years back I immediately went out and got another one. I didn't even consider other mice, I just got what was the best
Logitech gaming products are just fucking invincible. I tote my G15 and G5 around to LANs, I use them both lots every day, and they just take it and keep going, no questions, no worries. I fucking Logitech gaming products, so yes, I am biased.
I've been using my Sidewinder for a few years now, never looked back. And its much cheaper now than it was..
Logitech MX Revolution. Worth the price tag, amazingly comfortable even with my huge paws.
I Second the razer products.

I've been using one for around 7 or 8 years now and it's great still. Buttons still click like new. They are flatter than the MX's from logitech, but in the end very comfortable.
Absolutely recommend a Logitech MX Revolution mouse... actually I've got an extra one here that I'm willing to sell. PM if interested.
this, i've had one for 4 years and the only reason i stopped using it since last xmas was my gf got me a razer mamba. its a great mouse, battery life was amazing imo, playing FPSs everyday for a good 4 hours. it's really convenient for being mobile, the wireless usb stick is hidden into the mouse itself as well.Originally posted by Carl64

I usually stay away from wireless cause i had recharing batteries... If I do pick up the MX, any suggestions for good rechargible batteries?

It comes with a charging dock and batteries. I go for a few weeks with heavy usage before I have to cradle it for a night.Originally posted by Zewind

Rayovac 15 min rechargeable NiMH, but you have to get the respective charger with it, 15 mins or less, actually 20 mins sometimes, but weigh that against the time it takes regular alkaline rechargeable to do the same job. i've only used the same 8 rayovacs for almost all my AA household needs for almost 4 years now i think.Originally posted by Zewind

MX has a built-in battery that does not needs to be replaced. Very easy to charge as it comes with a dock/holder.
I have the new wireless microsoft sidewinder and it's awesome. No cord and you can attach the charging cord and still use it while it charges.

You can either stay with G5 or get the MX518.
Its time for the nerd to come out hahhahh.
The best gaming mice in the world are made by razer.

The Deathadder that is sold at Futureshop is AMAZING.
If your playing First persons DPI is what you should be looking for, with a Quick switch ability. I know the G5 has 2000DPi thats alot but I found it helpful when I used it.
The left handed Razer Deathadder just came out also.
Also the Teflon pads on the bottom of all the Razer mice are better then the G5 and other gaming mice that have a different material. If you combine it with a gaming mouse pad then your mouse will literally glide across the surface. (I use Steel Series Mouse Pads) They also come with Gold USBs for faster connection and are all wired, because wireless mice have slower responding times then wired mice. They have new Wireless mice made specifically for gaming now tho which I haven't had the chance to test out.
They have many kinds to choose from.
All the buttons are also fully customizable. (My Razer Habu had switchable thumb buttons for better feel)

Double post sorry
I game tons and the original Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer is the best mouse I have found
It’s about 12 years old. I purchased 10 of them off ebay so I would never run out. IMO it blows away anything out there today. The mouse is a nice size, fits my hand perfectly and the buttons only require light clicks. I personally didn't like the MX518. Compared to my old intellimouse it feels jittery and the middle mouse button is way to stiff. I’m really picky when it comes to mice though :P

I had a Razer (Copper head) mouse for a while.
I sold it and got a G5 because my huge hands didnt fit the small Razer mouse, it felt odd. I wonder if their newer mice are bigger.
edit - looks like they are

+1 for the MX Revolution! After several years of heavy use, my first one started dying: the battery contacts in the base were intermittent and the battery didn't hold much charge. RMA'd it, no questions asked, still going strong.
