Do you mean the end of March or the end of April? I'm leaving tomorrow with my wife and another couple. Where are you staying?

Go snorkling, and to the fresh water caves
Day trip to Havana
at the end of april...we are staying at barcello marina .
I'll try and check it out for you if I think of it. We're staying at the Paradisus Princesa which if I'm looking at the map correctly is right next door to you.Originally posted by Milkaholic

sure thing let me know how the vacation goes.
rent a scooter and do your own sightseeing. A day trip to havana is nice if you like to walk around and look at different things. Or try to get on a booze cruise and spend a day drinking on a boat.
ive heard about the booze cruise, have you ever been on one? how do you go about finding one?

Ditch the resort. go to Havana, Vinales, Trinidad, and Santiago.
But really.. deep sea fishing, and day trip to Havana are good. Just remember when your in Havana if a stranger comes up to you 9 times out of 10 they are scamming you. Just say no gracias and be on your way No chance they have relatives in Canada, really cheap REAL cuban cigars, The best Mojito in Cuba, or have good music to play lol.

There should be a tour guide rep that will come by your hotel, or just ask about him.
He will show you a bunch of packages/things to do. I think they vary from 50-200 bucks.
When I went with my parents, we did the havana day trip, which ended with seeing the tropicana show, which was awesome.
I heard the Jeep tour was pretty cool but I was too sunburned to go!
Sorry to bump an old thread but I was wondering if it's wise to go to Veradero around this time (August 2010)?
I saw some deals but obviously, it won't be worth it if it rains 99% of the time.
If anyone has experience, share your experiences and weigh in the options.
Cheers!
look at the year over year average of weather on the days you're going, they won't be 100% right but it'll give you a better idea of what you'll be looking at weather wise.
That being said, Fuck Cuba.. Food Sucks!
You'll have a good time if you like Hurricanes though!
Beginning of the hurricane season, so keep an eye on the weather chanel. I went last year in the end of AUG and was awesome. Didn't rain once! I stayed at Melia Las Americas. Smaller resort, older crowd. Food was excellent tho! If you stick to the grill at the buffet and they have 3 other restaurants too. Awesome place. Only complaint was it was a little bland for my liking, but thats whey they have the 3 types of hot sauce. The food is dependent on where u go. My brother stayed at the Iberostar (supposed to be the best) but the food sucked HARDCORE.Originally posted by Jeremiah

Yup... because they don't have open trade with the USA, most of the food is locally grown, and with their agriculture don't expect good food. That being said, a lot of the higher end resorts normally have OK food, but anything tastes good when you're drunk hahaOriginally posted by DonJuan

Haha thanks for the tips, guys! Looks like the deal isn't worth the pain of huge-ass hurricanes.
Time to look for more deals!
^ don't like living on the edge huh? If a hurricane were to form, Veraderro is on the northern tip of Cuba and doesn't usally get hit very hard. The bigger storms usually form in late october anyway.

I was gonna post yesterday, but it seems like he already passed on the deal. I went to Veradero at the end of August in 08, amazing weather minus one day when a "hurricane" started over us (it rained for like 2 hours, the waves were 10x more fun, and it was a nice change from +35 and sunny)
