Default Should I go ahead and buy it?

Hi guys I really need your advice .....Quick

What do you think of the 2001 Aurora?

Would you pay $3000 for a three year extended warranty?

Do any of you know what type of service/maintenance repair record this car has?

    TIA

That's a GM car right? I would not pay for the extended warranty. I had a GM car before and they're good in the first three years (I think every car is). But it's after the first three years that things start to break.

Honestly, they are not bad, their V8 engine is very strong, and smooth, their design is very "European" .. the problem is . you are not driving a "Honda or Toyota"
But for the Value ? they are very good, a 2001 AURORA V8 probaby cost less then any V6 Accord or Camry .. but you get a much more power and features car, (but it is not Honda or Toyota again !)
If you plan to keep the car for a long time, extended warranty is a good idea, but $3000 ? that is a lots ! even more then buying extended warranty on a BMW 5 series ! you better check around the shop for the price on extended warranty.

( by the way, how old are you ? he he.. are you looking a car for your parents ? Aurora is a very nice car ..but they are built for older people .. with average 58 yr old... )

pricey warrenty. Reasonable cars. Not great build quality as it is GM. Not great resale as it is GM. Generally not great dealer service as it is GM. Basically the only problems with the car are that its a GM vehicle...

Isn't the Olds Aurora powered by a 3.5 V6? I'm pretty sure they are, and there are great cars, LOTS of tourque which make em feel like a V8 but I'm pretty sure they are the 6. Unless Caddilac let Olds borrow their Northstar V8 whould would be even more excellent.

no, they do have a 4.0l v 8, buts is a sohc vs the dohc in the caddilacs... I dont see them in the shop very often.. but when i do.. usually needs a new motor (the caddy is worse though.. we do about 14-18 northstar swaps a year )

Did you buy the car already ? and just wanna buy warranty ?

or .. you want to buy the car+warranty ?

Anyway, it is your choice, if the car is in nice shape, V8, and under$20g, that is not a bad deal then.

I haven't got it yet I put down $500.00 and I will be closing the deal on Saturday. I paid $16,990.00. Its a 3.5 litre 6 cylinder with 93000 kilometres. It s Black exterior with charcoal grey leather interior...its a beauty.

But it put a big hole financially in my pocket and now I got to worry about extended warranty.

Price is good.. but .. kms is so high .. as a 2001 ..

You can buy the 7 yr / 160,000 kms warranty .. if that is the 6 cyclinder model, warranty shouldn't be more then $2K ..
again. I am not sure about GM car warranty ..

the dealer is offering me a three year "ultimate" warranty (all electrical and mechanical except for parts that wear) for $2900.00 and $200 deductible from a company called Autoshield. If I dont have any claims in three years they will return $2000 dollars of the money back to me. for example

." Examples of parts and services not covered:

Carburetor, Batteries, Battery Cables, Zippers, Windshield Wiper Arms, Headlamp and Projection Lamp assemblies, Circuit Breakers, Cup holders, Ashtrays, Dash Pads, Seat Frames, Convertible tops, Inside/Outside door handles/hinges, Shock Absorbers, Bolts, Nuts, Fasteners, Standard Transmission Clutch Assembly, Friction Clutch Disc and pressure plate, Clutch Release Bearing, Manual and Hydraulic Linkages, Distributor Cap and Rotor, Safety Resistant Systems (including air bag and air bag igniter), Glass, Lenses, Sealed Beams, Light bulbs, Fuses, Cellular phones, Television/VCR, Electronic Transmitting Devices, Brake Rotors and Drums, Exhaust and Emission Systems, Weather Strips, Trim Moldings, Bright Metal, Chrome, Upholstery and Carpet, Paint, Outside Ornamentation, Bumpers, Body Sheet Metal and panels, Frame and Structural Body Parts,

By the way what are the details with the 7 year /160000 you mentioned.

Insurance should be reasonable on this car.

Isn't GM closing down the Oldsmobile division in the near future? Better make sure you know how long parts will be available. This can affect resale value down the road.
