    Default Nova Scotia to Calgary

I am going back to Alberta after being away for school all year. I drove across in the summer, and am planning on driving back next week.

I know many of you have done this drive before (SupraDextra or whatever his name is) and am wondering if anyone has dipped down and gone through the US instead.

Is there any point in me doing so? I am just going alone, so won't be able to part or do much really. Is there anything that would make it worth crossing the border? Anything to do on the way for a person by themselves?

    I've never dipped down, yet.

I also don't have any R's in my name... ha

But I have done the drive 7 times now I think (coast to coast as well, from tofino to the atlantic).. And will be again in anotyher month or so, and I will be dipping down this time.. From what I hear the roads are better, its faster, there is more to see, gas is cheaper and the dollar is good.. Giver..

Think the po-lice will be interesting in pulling me over with my Alberta plates?

Dip down, I have done the drive many times from Montreal/Toronto to Victoria, and the USA dip does have a way more to see and different eating places along the route compared to Canada. Different candy too come to think of it, I once collected as many packs of gum as I could find which were not available in Canada (very bored). I think it was something like 27 packs that I found in total.

Not much to do really along the drive, I would load up on audiobooks, comedy albums, etc. My current fav in that area is the podcast series by Gervais, my collection shows over 22 hours, plenty there.

The Ricky Gervais Show (3 seasons)
The Ricky Gervais Guide To... (must be eight or so episodes)

Load up on podcasts from the CBC, and other radio shows.

Could learn an entire Spanish or French series as well, look for the Michel Thomas series.

All can be found for free on a torrent site.

Thanks for the ideas. I definitely got extremely bored listening to music the last time, these sound like they could be good.

Did you find with the Thomas series you were able to pick up much of the language.

I am thinking about trying to drive all during daylight hours, then try to camp at night to save some cash.

What route do you usually take HondaKid? What cities/areas do you go through?

I'd like to hit-up the American fast food joints like Carl Jrs, and whatnot.
