Arrow LF: position as financial analyst, CPA or the like.

Hey guys a good friend of mine is a CPA, and has a degree in business finance. Hes an incredibly smart & capable individual looking to get into a career in what he was trained for.
Anything along these lines, please let me know so I can pass on the info. Hes looking towards getting into something more oriented around the oil patch, but everything will be considered.

Big thanks in advance for any help or tips you can offer.

No problem. Save the beer to celebrate with your buddy when he gets the job.

    Couple other places to try:
    - TransCanada Pipelines
    - Enmax
    - PWC

Out there today a lot of it in the industry is who you know; most of the time you're competing with internal candidates.

Not trying to discourage your friend or anything, just making him aware that he may have to go pounding on 2 or 3dozen "doors" before somebody takes him for an interview. (not really different than a lot of fields, but where he's looking is more insulated than most)

^ Yeah I know, thats why I was asking for any of these internal networks would know of anything. To go "knock on doors" in these economic times is a waste of time and energy, I cant stress that enough as that was me a few months back.

So I made this thread to see if anybody knew of any leads to go on and the like.

Assuming he's looking at accounting financial analyst positions, as opposed to finance, there are plenty of jobs out there that he should have no problem getting an interview for with a professional designation behind him.

www.casource.com is a good listing, and most of the time the postings will consider any accounting designation.

Otherwise, there are a fair number of companies that only post jobs through recruiters, so talking to Robert Half, Conroy Ross, etc may be a good thing as well.

www.calgarycfasociety.com is a great resource for these banking jobs.
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
